iccu.observer crowdsources high-precision E-GMP ICCU metrics during regular trips to ground our discourse about ICCU LDC (and later OBC) failures in data. If you have an E-GMP vehicle, an OBD2 scanner and the Car Scanner ELM OBD2 app, you can contribute recorded data from your trips. Your data will then be made available to the community for analysis. Data from a trip where the ICCU fails is particularly valuable, but longitudinal records from each contributor are also valuable in tracking conditions of ICCU deterioration and gaps between rides. Therefore, you should track all your trips as well as the beginning of charging sessions—any interaction where there is a failure risk should be tracked.

Before Winter 2026 ends in the northern hemisphere (given that more ICCUs fail in the winter), my goal is to evolve iccu.observer reporting and data retrieval into a more automated experience, with upload validation, authentication, and potentially a custom app for background collection and automatic uploads. Connection profile should be “Kia IONIQ 5 / IONIQ 6 / Inster / EV3 / EV5 / EV6 / EV9 / Niro EV 2023- / Kona EV 2023- / Genesis GV60 / GV70 EV / G80 Electrified”.
On your phone, go to this page at how.iccu.observer, open the following green bookmark, and download the dashboard for your model year below. Then, in your Car Scanner app, go to Settings → Dashboard → Restore Dashboard, and select your downloaded dashboard. ⚠️ This will remove your existing dashboards. To save existing dashboards, go to Settings → Dashboard → Save Dashboard first.

Make sure data recording (”Record data”) is turned on under Data recording.
Connect to your OBD scanner before beginning each drive or charging session. Switch to the dashboard you made with the parameters above, and make sure your phone remains on that screen. (The dashboard is configured to update in the background, but I’m not sure if it will still update outside the app. If this is inconvenient and you have a spare phone, maybe use that.) For charging sessions, you can disconnect after a few minutes.
This should produce a new file in the Data Recording section. Export the file in the CSV #2 format, then upload it to upload.iccu.observer. You can upload multiple files at once if no DTCs showed up and your ICCU didn’t get replaced in between. Thank you for contributing! If we can’t rely on HMG, we might as well try something ourselves.

As your trip recordings accumulate, it may be a good idea to delete old recordings from your phone once in a while.
Use your own judgment on whether to leave your OBD scanner connected when the vehicle is unattended/off. Doing so may add a tiny load on the 12V battery and might be unsafe, as Iternio explains on their OBD connection page.
